For those of you who have never done an auction draft before, I just want to lay out a few tips to help you prepare as best as possible for draft day. - Prepare a budget for yourself. How much are you willing to spend on offense? Defense? Goaltending? Keep in mind that with a 27-man roster, you'll need AT LEAST $27 to build your team. So if it helps, subtract that from your $200 limit from the start.
- Bring whatever materials you'll need to help you through the draft. Since it's not an online draft, there's no binder full of all the NHL players (or of women) in front of you. Bring a laptop, magazine, book, whatever you need.
- Run through a mock auction draft on Yahoo! Try one of these to acclimate yourselves with what an auction draft is like.
Lastly, have fun with it. Doing an in-person draft is much more fun than everyone sitting behind a computer screen in their respective houses. Bring some brews, tasty treats.. oh, and I've hired this guy, too:

For your convenience, I've included the pre-draft auction values (as set by Yahoo) so you get a feel for what you might expect come draft day. It's nice that Yahoo adjusts the values based on your roster size, so since ours is much larger than their default, the values on top-end guys are projected to be lower. PROJECTED. Who knows what will happen come draft day...
