This thread is dedicated to any problems we encounter along the way, along with any changes worth noting.

Update (04/23/15; farm team): We will be introducing a farm team beginning in the 2015-16 season, another fantastic option given to us by FanTrax. There, we can keep our rookies we draft. Any player who is in the minors, juniors or college qualifies for the farm team. It will likely begin as a roster of five. Each rookie will have a default contract of $1 when you draft them, but it won't count against your cap until you activate them on your active roster. You will also need room for them on your roster, as well, so dropping someone may be necessary.
--
Update (12/04/14); injured-reserve): If you place a player on long-term IR (be sure to notify me somehow that you want the cap relief), you are eligible to receive half the player's salary as cap relief ($1 salary = $1 for your budget). BE SURE to get back under the cap once you reactivate your player. If you fail to do so, I'll automatically remove any players you added with the relief money until you're back at or under the cap ceiling.

Update (10/27/14; waiver acquisitions): This should be the last time I have to address the waiver acquisition process. While the current system makes sure managers pay a proper amount for dropped players, it's WAY too difficult to track for both YOU and I. Managers need to look at the Yahoo! league activity to see if a player was dropped. They then need to look on the forum to see how much that player's contract was worth before submitting a bid.
NOW, and again this should be the final change...
If you drop a player, you can't pick him up for a period of 1 WEEK. As soon as he is dropped, the player is available to all, as he appears on Yahoo, for a minimum of $1.
Looking ahead, you never know what player will emerge as the season goes on, so cutting a player to make cap space (even though he's a solid player) isn't the end of the world. This will take effect STARTING IN WEEK 4 (Sunday night pick-ups for Monday). This gives everyone time to see this and be aware. And undoubtedly, this will be a much easier system for all of us. You don't have to go through this process to determine just what you need to bid on a player and, likewise, I don't have to monitor it either.

Update (10/14/14; waiver acquisitions): Players signed to 1-year deals can be dropped, of course. However, if you drop a player with a contract over $1, there was nothing to stop you from adding him again for $1 to save money and circumvent the salary cap. Not anymore.
For dropped players with contracts over $1 ($2 or greater)...
:: The original manager cannot re-acquire that player for a period of 1 WEEK.
:: WEEK 2: the original manager can bid on the player for half of his original contract value. (Should it be an odd number, we will always round up. e.g. $11 contract ---> $6 required bid)
:: WEEK 3: the original manager can bid on the player for $1.
**NOTE for all other managers: To acquire a dropped player off the waiver wire whose original contract was larger than $1, your minimum bid MUST be half of the player's original contract in his first 2 WEEKS on the waiver wire (in WEEK 3, just like the original manager, you can bid whatever you wish on the player). As with the above rules, if the contract value is an odd number, we will always round up by $1.

Update (10/13/14; waiver acquisitions): With Yahoo, if nobody else bids on a player you bid $0 on, you get the player for free. Well, obviously that coincides with our salary cap. Though Yahoo! does not let me change the minimum bid amount to $1, it does have a tab for FAAB Bids (Free Agent Acquisition Budgets), so I can see if a player is won for $0. If that is the case, the transaction will not be honored and the player will be removed from your roster. You MUST bid a minimum of $1 on a player.
Especially important for teams with $0 in cap space... When you drop a $1 player, Yahoo doesn't automatically add $1 to your waiver acquisition funds, so that's something I would have to track manually. Additionally, if you try to add a player for $1 when you drop a $1 player in the same transaction, you won't have any money to bid. SO, in this scenario ONLY is it acceptable to bid $0 on a free agent. Obviously, it makes sense as you would still be at the $200 cap limit since the $0 player will still act as a $1 player as far as Yahoo is concerned.
