Michigan Fantasy Hockey League
(Copied from the initial newsletter I sent out on Oct. 2)
Welcome to the inaugural season of the Michigan Fantasy Hockey League (MFHL)!
Gone are the days of single-season fantasy hockey leagues. GMs are in this one for the long haul, constructing a dynasty over numerous seasons by utilizing keeper positions for your club. Think your team is close to winning it all this season? Make a deal for that last piece to the puzzle, but it may come at the cost of a draft pick or young rookie of the future. Or is your team on the brink of finishing dead last? Become a seller at the trade deadline and acquire some young talent or draft picks to help you build for coming seasons.
The MFHL will be hosted through Yahoo! Fantasy Sports. There is a companion app available on iOS and Android since I’m sure a lot of you, like me, like to make moves on the go wherever you may be.
I have also set up a (mobile-friendly) message board/forum over at michiganfhl.proboards.com where managers can talk trades, drafting (draft results will be posted there), the NHL or whatever you want in the ‘off-topic’ section. Things like power rankings, post-season awards and polls for improving the league will also be found on the forum. Additionally, each individual team will have its own sub-forum to list their trading block or use at their own leisure. The goal is that this becomes the main platform for league activity as the league rolls on.
*NOTE: When you sign up for the forum, please make your user name either your real name or your team name for the sake of simplicity. Send me (SKubus) a message on the forums once you have signed up.

Communication is going to be crucial, especially in this first year; I cannot stress this enough! If you have any questions, feel free to contact either myself (nitrokubie89@gmail.com), Joe (joeycrime@gmail.com) or Andy (anordstr@emich.edu), and we will respond in a timely manner. Expect more information in the coming days, and I look forward to a competitive, active season, just the first of many with you all!
Best regards,
Stefan Kubus, Commissioner, Michigan Fantasy Hockey League
