Also, with that aside, make sure you've signed up for an account to log in here on the message boards. Most of you already have, but you're going to need to by August 31 if you want to re-sign any of your free agent players for next season.
Yahoo! opened their fantasy hockey the other day and, with it, their pre-draft auction values, which were tailored to our roster size and scoring system.
WEEK 1 (August 31 - September 6) of the contract extension process, these are the new minimum values you have to re-sign your players for (up to 3 years). Make your decisions and if you want to do them sooner, by all means go ahead, but they will be locked in September 6. Reply below in one post with two lists labeled re-sign and release. List the players you want to keep and the ones you want to cut for now. Remember, any player you release will enter the free agency pool, so you'll have another chance to win him back when we conduct our auction-style WAIVER DRAFT (just like last year's) on September 20. Remember, the signings must fit within your $200 salary cap, another important reason (as if you needed one) to sign up immediately for our league. There, it lists your current salary cap situation along with the players' individual contract values.
I say it every time, but if you fail to report your contracts by September 6, I'll release those players to free agency. You'll still have a chance to get them back at the draft, though.
WEEK 2 (September 7 - September 13) is when other managers will be able to sign your players to offer sheets if they wish. An opposing manager must submit an offer sheet worth at least $1 more than the original manager's attempted contract extension value. The original manager can then match the counter offer to keep his player if he so chooses come WEEK 3. Remember, there's a steep compensation fee if you try to snag someone else's player, however: several Prospect/Rookie Draft picks. And with only 10 teams in our league, even the 10th pick in the Prospect/Rookie Draft is going to net you a top-notch player of the future.
WEEK 3 (September 14 - September 20) is the final stage. You will have this last week before the draft to decide if you want to match any offer sheets on your players. From here, your roster will virtually be finalized heading up to the Prospect and Waiver Drafts.
*If you didn't use your buyout during the season, you can still use it here, too, keep in mind. You only get ONE per year. I messed that up in the newsletter, but it's correct in the guidebook!
So, without further ado, here are the NEW values for all of our teams' expiring free agents.

So, remember, while re-signing officially starts August 31, you have until September 6 to submit your contract extensions. September 7-13, this is when players can be signed to offer sheets (if any). From September 14-20, you can choose whether or not you want to match any outstanding offer sheets on your players, thus finalizing the rosters heading into the Prospect Draft and Waiver Draft the night of September 20.

Not sure about the rest of you, but it seems like we're going to have a bigger free agent pool to draft from than I originally anticipated. Looking forward to seeing what decisions you all make, and we'll be in touch over the next few weeks, but I'll see you all at the draft Sept. 20!
Bring the $50 buy-in to draft night to make it easy on yourself! If you don't bring it then, you will have the ability to pay via Paypal or credit card online right in our league, but do note you will charged a $1.25 handling fee by Fantrax.
Payment is due by October 1. If not paid by then, Fantrax will automatically lock you out of the league.
